Lance

Lance is lange tijd het onderzoeksschip geweest van het Norsk Polarinstitutt. Dit is het laatste jaar dat de boot voor hen in bedrijf is. Vandaag ligt ze hier in de haven en heb ik haar op de foto gezet.

De nieuwe boot heet RV Kornprins Haakon. Die ligt al enige tijd in Tromsø voor de laatste afbouw en begint in de herfst aan haar eerste echte trip. Het is een groot schip met ijsbreekklasse, 100 meter lang en 21 meter breed. Haar eerste vaart betreft de Nansen Legacy waarbij de ijsrand van het pakijs wordt onderzocht.
